AI represents an significant departure on how art is realized and perceived. No longer is the
art dependent on the physical skills of the Artist. Or in the case of photography the recording
of a physical reality. Instead AI uses human inspiration and imagination by use of algorithms and
verbal commands in search of visual material that it then assimilates into a visual representation.
I like to compare AI to photography on acid where the tripping becomes the physical reality. And
while one might say AI may represent the empowerment of human inspiration. But AI has no soul no
understanding of what it is to be human. All of what AI understands comes form us. So does AI
make everyone an artist it does if Art represents human inspiration and intent.
I like to use a musical metaphor in the description of AI. One where we write the score and AI performs the
music. While being deaf to its sound.
